Jewelry Servicing & Care

Posted by Skeie's Jewelers on

You're building a fine jewelry collection, full of heirloom pieces like your engagement ring, wedding jewelry, and diamond studs - so how do you keep them in pristine, sparkling condition?

💡 Did you know that we offer complimentary jewelry cleaning?

We recommend bringing your ring in every 3-6 months for us to professionally clean. We'll also check your prongs and settings to make sure everything is secure while we're at it.

You can bring in rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more to have steam cleaned and polished on the spot, at no cost!

Can I wear my jewelry all the time?

  • Our jewelry is made to last for generations, and like all fine jewelry, a little TLC once in a while may be needed
  • Pieces like herringbone chains, dainty necklaces and bracelets, and rings with gemstones should always be stored flat on a tray or in a jewelry box.
  • Chemicals like chlorine can affect any metal alloyed with nickel, like white gold. Remove your jewelry before going swimming to keep it looking fresh.
  • Always remove soft gems and stones like pearl and opal jewelry before swimming, showering, working out, sleeping, etc.

😍 Pro Tip: Stash a travel-sized jewelry case in your gym bag so you don't have to worry about your jewelry while you're working out!

How Do I Clean My Jewelry at Home?

For cleanings in-between store visits, we recommend using a gentle dish soap and warm water to soak your pieces; after soaking them, use a soft-bristled toothbrush to help remove dirt, and then do a final rinse to shine your jewelry up and get it ready to wear again.

Remember to always cover the drain or clean your jewelry over the counter!

Proper Ring Sizing is Important

Finger sizes can fluctuate from day to day, season to season. Weather, activity, salty foods, altitude... there are a lot of reasons why our rings may fit tighter or looser than we like.

Taking off your jewelry before strenuous hikes or long flights can keep you more comfortable. Keep your rings in a zip-close case while you're out adventuring, and bring them into the store for us to check and clean when you get back.

If your ring is feeling too loose, too tight, or spinning around too much, give us a call or stop in to see what some options are. We have a full service team available to help ensure your ring fits well, feels good, and looks great!
