Our experts will evaluate your ring to determine if resizing is possible and what size adjustment is required. We will consider factors such as the ring's design, metal, type, and presence of gemstones.
If decreasing the size, our jewelers will cut a small section out of the band and then solder the ends back together. If increasing the ring size, our jeweler may stretch the ring or cut the band and add extra metal, carefully matching the design and texture to ensure a seamless look.
Once the resizing is complete, the ring will undergo refinishing and polishing to restore its original luster and remove any of the visible signs of the resizing process.
Finally, our team will conduct a thorough inspection to ensure the resized ring meets our highest quality standards, checking for proper fit, smooth edges, and overall integrity.
Jewelry may need to be rhodium plated for several reasons. Rhodium plating is most commonly used on white gold jewelry to give it a bright, white, and reflective finish. White gold, in its natural state, has a slightly yellowish tint due to its composition of gold alloyed with other metals such as nickel or palladium. Rhodium plating creates a highly desirable white gold appearance that closely resembles platinum, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the jewelry.
It's important to note that rhodium plating is a surface treatment and may wear off over time with regular use. Depending on wear and tear, the jewelry may need to be re-plated periodically to maintain its appearance.
Gemstones can become damaged, chipped, cracked, or dislodged from the jewelry setting due to accidents, impacts, or general wear and tear, In such cases, replacing the damaged or lost gemstone is necessary to restore the jewelry's original beauty and functionality.
Over time, gemstones can show signs of wear, including scratches, dullness, or fading of color. At times a gemstone may become less vibrant or lose its original sparkle. Replacing the gemstone can revitalize the jewelry and bring back its vibrant appearance.
Individuals may also choose to upgrade their gemstones to a higher quality or a different type of gemstone to suit their changing preferences or evolving fashion trends.
In certain situations, replacing a gemstone with a higher-quality or more valuable stone cab increase the jewelry's overall worth. This can be relevant for vintage or antique pieces, as well as for those considering selling or passing down their jewelry as an heirloom.
Whatever your reasons, our team of jewelry experts will assist you in sourcing the gemstone of your dreams.
Jewelry soldering is a process of joining two or more metal components together using a specialized soldering technique. It involves melting a metal alloy called solder to create a strong and permanent bond between the pieces being soldered.
Soldering is commonly used in jewelry repair to fix broken or damaged pieces. It can be used to reattach a broken chain, repair a snapped ring shank, or fix a broken clasp among other repairs.
Over time, stones in jewelry settings can become loose due to regular wear, physical impacts, or changes in temperature. If a stone feels wobbly or moves within its setting, it is important to address the issue promptly as loose stones pose a risk of falling out and being lost. Resetting or tightening the stones ensures their security and prevents potential damage or loss.
At times, jewelry owners want to update the style or design of their piece. Resetting stones allows for the opportunity to change the setting style, such as transitioning a prong setting to a halo or a different setting that better suits personal preference or current trends.
We highly recommend to have your jewelry professionally, polished, buffed, and inspected periodically, especially for frequently worn or valuable pieces. Our craftsmen have the expertise, specialized tools, and techniques to handle different types of jewelry and materials, ensuring this process is done safely and effectively and effectively without causing damage.
Regular professional inspections, polishing, and buffing can help identify potential issues or damage in the jewelry. Early detection of loose stones, worn prongs, or weakened clasps can prevent further damage or loss of valuable gemstones. By addressing these issues promptly, professional maintenance can help extend the longevity and durability of the jewelry.
Over time, prongs can become worn, bent, or weakened due to regular wear, accidental impacts, or age. This can compromise the security of the gemstone, increasing the risk of it coming loose or falling out of the setting. Prong re-tipping is preformed to restore the strength and stability of the prongs, ensuring the gemstone remains held in place.
