About the Collection
Nimble, malleable with an inimitable intense color, there is nothing like pure gold. Always classic; eternally elegant, pure yellow is sublime. Its softness, hence, malleability allows handmade sculpting like no other metal therefore allowing a very high level of artistic expression. Ancient jewelry was handmade without metal alloys, only pure metals and simple hand tools. Lika Behar Collection elegantly reconciles the rich inspiration of ancient jewelry traditions. We strive to revive and reinvent, yielding a luxury fit for the modern woman. My designs are an expression of ancient history and the modern feminine spirit. I use 24, 22 and sometimes out of necessity 18Karat gold, always the highest level of purity my design will comfortably and safely allow.
Product Care -Gold is a soft metal prone to scratching, and is usually mixed with other alloy metals to increase it’s hardness.
-Gold has a tendency to tarnish, depending on the percentage of other metals mixed with the gold.
-The best way to clean gold jewelry is to take it to a professional jeweler for cleaning. Oxidized Silver A piece of blackened or oxidized silver is true sterling silver, but it's surface has been intentionally darkened through by introducing it to a chemical process. Like other patinas, oxidized silver is just a surface treatment and does not change the internal color or properties of the metal.
Product Care -It’s best to remove your oxidized silver jewelry before aggressive contact and when showering or washing your hands to prolong the dark color.
-If cleaning is necessary, use mild dish detergent and soft toothbrush with as little rubbing as possible. Silver For centuries, silver has been prized for its incredible luster and workability. Pure silver is highly tarnish-resistant but is too soft to use for jewelry design. Other metals like copper, nickel, or zinc, are added to harden silver. For example, sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% another metal. Silver products sometimes may be marked “925” which means that 925 parts per thousand are pure silver. Some jewelry may be described as silverplate: a layer of silver is bonded to a base metal. If you’re looking for an inexpensive metal for your fine jewelry, silver is a good choice. Since silver is soft and scratches easily, it’s best used for jewelry that is not worn daily.
Product Care -Your sterling silver jewelry will need cleaning and polishing from time to time to remove fingerprints, oils, and naturally occurring tarnish.
-The most effective way to clean sterling silver is with warm water and mild bar soap. (Liquid soap is likely to leave a film on your jewelry, resulting in a dull finish.)
