The SPB379 represents the first mechanical GMT Alpinist watch in regular production, bringing dual-time functionality to Seiko's legendary mountaineering collection.
The 39.5mm stainless steel case with super-hard coating houses the in-house caliber 6R54, the first mechanical GMT movement in a Prospex watch to feature a three-day power reserve. The distinctive red-tipped GMT hand operates independently as an "office GMT," allowing hour-by-hour adjustments without interrupting the primary timekeeping. Beyond dual-time tracking, this hand serves as a crucial day-night indicator for explorers in conditions where distinguishing day from night becomes impossible, essential for cave exploration or polar expeditions.
The matte black dial features transferred silvery-white markers, while the inner rotating compass bezel maintains the collection's traditional navigation capability. A curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating enhances visibility, and the watch achieves 200-meter water resistance through screwdown crown construction.
