The Santos de Cartier holds the distinction of being one of the world's first purpose-built wristwatches, originally created in 1904 for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. This large model honors that pioneering heritage while incorporating thoroughly modern refinements. The 39.8mm square case features gently rounded edges and Cartier's signature exposed screws, creating an instantly recognizable silhouette. The graduated blue dial transitions from deep navy at the edges to lighter tones near the center, producing remarkable depth and visual interest throughout the day. Polished steel sword-shaped hands with luminescent material ensure legibility in any lighting condition, while Roman numerals maintain the classical Cartier aesthetic.
