From the
Collection
Named for one of the most celebrated trees in Edo-period Tokyo, the King Seiko SJE103 pays tribute to the legendary Garyu-Bai, the "Sleeping Dragon Plum" of Kameido.
This ancient tree, with branches that swept low across the ground like a resting dragon, once drew crowds to the plum orchards behind Kameido Tenjin Shrine and famously inspired Hiroshige's Ukiyo-e masterwork in his One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Seiko channels that artistic legacy through a deep red gradation dial embossed with a plum blossom pattern, rendered in the same Ukiyo-e spirit that defined Japanese visual culture for centuries.
The execution matches the ambition of its source material. Diamond-cut dauphine hands and meticulously carved dimensional indices sit beneath a box-shaped sapphire crystal, with the 12 o'clock marker individually sculpted as a signature detail. The 38.6mm stainless steel case holds to just 10.7mm in thickness, powered by the in-house Caliber 6L35 with its 28,800 vph frequency and 45-hour power reserve. Super-hard coating protects the mirror and hairline finishing that echoes the original 1965 KSK aesthetic. Water resistant to 50 meters.
