Few watch dials carry this much cultural weight.
The King Seiko SJE105 draws its identity from Kameido, the historic Tokyo neighborhood where King Seiko was born, translating centuries of Japanese artistry into a wristwatch that feels both ancient and thoroughly modern. The deep blue gradation across its embossed dial recreates a turtle shell pattern rooted in Ukiyo-e, the woodblock print tradition that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. In Japanese culture, the turtle is a symbol of longevity and good fortune, and Kameido itself was once known as "Kamejima," or Turtle Island, before land reclamation reshaped the landscape.
Beneath a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, diamond-cut dauphine hands sweep across meticulously carved dimensional indices, with the 12 o'clock marker individually sculpted for added distinction. The in-house Caliber 6L35, one of Seiko's slimmest automatic movements at just 3.7mm tall, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers 45 hours of power reserve. That engineering restraint allows the 38.6mm stainless steel case to sit at a refined 10.7mm on the wrist, finished in the signature combination of mirror polish and hairline brushing that defined the original 1965 KSK. Water resistant to 50 meters.
