The SRPK71 is one of those watches that commits fully to its concept.
Conceived exclusively for the US market, it draws its design directly from the broad, saturated stripes painted on vintage racing liveries, and rather than confining that motif to the dial, carries it through to the nylon strap in an unbroken visual sweep of black and red.
The 42.5mm stainless steel case is finished with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces, anchored by a black aluminium uni-directional rotating bezel with a crown positioned at 4 o'clock for wrist comfort during active wear. Inside runs Seiko's in-house Caliber 4R36 automatic movement — a 24-jewel, 21,600 vph workhorse with manual winding capability, a hacking seconds hand for precise time-setting, and approximately 41 hours of power reserve. The screwdown see-through caseback puts the movement on full display.
A day/date calendar at 3 o'clock, red seconds hand, and LumiBrite-treated hands and markers complete a dial that is functional as well as deliberately bold. The nylon strap is cut wide enough to fit comfortably over a racing suit. Water resistance is rated to 10 bar (100m).
